Christmas on the High SeasJanuary 2009
For over ten years now, KD Decoratives have been the preferred supplier to dress the PO fleet of ships ready for Christmas on the high seas. Customers pay a premium price to be part of these special cruises each year and it is up to KD to ensure that the decorations meet the high standard of dressing and presentation that has come to be expected.
Last year PO have added a new flagship super liner, Ventura, to their
fleet. This ship is one of the largest cruise liners in the world and makes this is the sixth in our current list of ships. Planning started with a trip to the boatyard in Italy to survey Ventura. Each room has to be photographed, videoed and detailed notes made as the next time the ship will be seen will be in the Caribbean when the
decorations are ready to be installed.
Last year we installed three ships in Southampton and three
in the Caribbean. Planning and logistics for these installations was
a crucial and time-consuming part of the contract, with every minute
counting and no room for error. Despite missing stock, missing
luggage and tropical storms, touch wood we always made Christmas happen for the festive holidaymakers.
An even larger ship is planned for 2010 – better start sticking
baubles now!
