It's All Go Bananas at KDAugust 2008
No sooner than Santa’s little elfers had taken down the last of the Christmas decorations and hung their braces up, they were plunged deep into the jungle as KD won the contract to create an amazing new show for Sundown Adventure land near Retford.
Sundown, a theme park designed for the under 10’s, commissioned
"Monkey Mischief", a larger than life display of monkeys, orangutans, baboons and all their jungle friends. The show boasts over 350 individual animatronic pneumatic movements and took over 4 months to create and over a month to install.
The show pulled on the skills of all our departments at KD, our sculptors, sprayers and painters who cleverly created all the background sets, our engineering and animation department, who literally had monkeys swinging from every beam, our recording studios,
responsible for creating an authentic jungle theme and our props and
dressings department who had to turn a piece of land just off the A1 into a tropical jungle!
The show has 5 different scenes; Monkey Madness, Monkey Nut, King
of the Swingers, Monkey Puzzle and Monkey Magic. All scenes have
interactive buttons allowing children to get truly involved with the
animals and to interact with each scene. They can play naughts and
crosses, monkey climbing games and ball games. All games are
synchronized with sound, light and talking and singing monkeys.
As the children press the buttons the jungle animals play their
instruments producing a cacophony of sound and the jungle drums can clearly be heard!

Next time you are near by it is worth a visit. Children will love
it – adults may be advised to take earplugs!! This project is part of a growing business with theme parks, other work to date includes projects for Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Alton Towers, Drayton Manor and Centre Parcs with more rides and theming planned for 2009 – we’ll keep you posted.
